Ecusol, an organisation focused on reducing businesses’ energy usage and carbon footprint, have stated that business energy costs are to rise to 30% higher in 2020 than they were in 2016.

Third party costs, such as Transmission Network Use of System (TNUoS) and Distribution Use of System (DUoS), account for around half of business energy bills and have increased by 25% in the last two years. Wholesale prices have also risen dramatically and the market has become more volatile, leading to a rise in business energy costs.

A rise in the Climate Change Levy, a tax on energy delivered to non-domestic users in the United Kingdom, is expected in April. This will lead to a rise in energy costs for businesses, paired with the looming BREXIT deadline.

Not only do businesses need to focus on reducing their energy costs, over the next 12 years we need to dramatically reduce our carbon footprint in order to protect our planet (read why here).
